    What You Can Expect

Every second day you will receive a short quote from the vast Net-burst.Net website. Some will be witty or humorous, some thought-provoking, some heart-warming but all are intended to fire your passion for God. For samples, see Net-burst.Net Sampler.

    How to Join

    If You Use Facebook

Just go to Net-Burst Quotes in Facebook and click Ask to Join Group (located on the extreme right, near the top of the screen).

If You Do NOT Use Facebook

You can wish, you can make Facebook nothing but a safe and simple way of delivering quotes. Just as you can have a phone and choose to let no one know your number or anything about you, so you can choose to make being on Facebook completely private. Just as people can use a phone safely, so people can use Facebook safely. In fact, it is widely claimed that half a billion people (500 million) use Facebook. For further help with safety issues, see Facebook’s Safety Center.

The process is very simple but I’ve provided detailed guidance below for those who don’t feel confident.

If, for you, Facebook is Out of the Question

You are important to me. E-mail netburst@net-burst.net with the subject line NOT Facebook and I will attempt an e-mail alternative for you.

    How to Join Facebook

    Go to www.facebook.com

Fill out Sign Up and create your own password. If you worry about providing your name, you can make one up.

It asks for Date of Birth but once you join Facebook this information can be suppressed. How to suppress it is explained below but you have to sign up first.

When you complete the information and click Sign Up you will be asked to type some characters (usually two words) as a security check. If you can’t read the words, you can click Try different words or click an audio captcha to hear the words spoken.

After completing this, you might be asked if you want to add friends and some suggestions might be made. If you wish, you can skip this or deny each person. There are other steps that you can complete or skip by clicking “skip.”

When you have completed this, Facebook will send you an e-mail. Your e-mail program might regard the Facebook e-mail as spam, so if the e-mail does not appear, look for it in the spam or junk folder of your e-mail program. When you locate the e-mail, you will see that it gives simple instructions for you to verify that it is in fact, your email address and then your Facebook application is complete.

Near to top of most Facebook pages you will find a long box saying Search (a magnifying glass appears on the right of the box). Type net-burst in the box. The correct one is called Net-Burst (note the hyphen) Group and has part of the blue Net-burst logo. Click on it.

Near the top of the Net-Burst page is a small box saying Join Click this and then click Join in the box that appears.

If you wish to Suppress Your Date of Birth and Other Information

Go to your personal Facebook page.

On the Welcome to Facebook page is the option to Edit your Profile (Step 3 or on the top left of the screen).

After selecting this, the Basic Information page will appear. On the right of that page you can uncheck the box to suppress your gender: Show my sex in my profile

Below this is a box with the words “Show my full birthday in my profile” By clicking on the down arrow you have the option of choosing “Don’t show my birthday in my profile”

    Then click Save Changes .

Click Home on the top right of the screen.

Click Welcome on the left of the screen. On step 6 of the screen that appears is Control what information you share.

Click Edit your privacy settings on the right.

You can limit these to friend or friend of friends . A “friend” is someone you have added to Facebook as a friend, so if you have not added anyone, no one will have this information.

    Could these Instructions Be Improved?

    Please e-mail suggestions to netburst@net-burst.net
