Jesus’ Teaching About Self

Matthew 10:38-39 He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me, isn’t worthy of me. . . . he who loses his life for my sake will find it.

Matthew 16:24-25  . . . If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.

Luke 9:23  . . . If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.

Luke 14:11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Luke 14:26-27 If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard . . . his own life also, he can’t be my disciple. Whoever doesn’t bear his own cross, and come after me, can’t be my disciple.

Luke 18:14  . . . everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.

John 12:24-25 Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.
