Obnoxious

Suppose a child foolishly craves something that will end up endangering her and she is lovingly told she cannot have it. It is typical of children to keep whining and complaining and resorting to every tactic she can muster to coerce or pressure her parents into relenting. Regardless of whether she points to other parents who are less wise and caring, or to other children who are more responsible or are in situations that are slightly different from her own, she will do everything her conniving heart can dream up to state or imply that her parents are selfish or cruel or unjust. She will try ignoring one parent’s emphatic no and try going to the other parent behind the first parent’s back in the hope of tricking one or the other into saying yes. Nothing is too low. All that matters is getting her own foolish way.
