A denarius was a laborer’s daily wage (Matthew 20:2). A talent was 6,000 times this amount. If Jesus were telling the parable in our society, he would almost certainly have used the term million dollars instead of talent. It takes a lot of trust to leave someone change of a million dollars of your money!
