Timothy

The following closely parallels what Timothy achieved in Thessalonica. Most likely Paul’s confidence in Timothy fulfilling this role was boosted by Timothy’s experience in Thessalonica:

Philippians 2:19-22 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered up when I know how you are doing. For I have no one else like-minded, who will truly care about you. For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ. But you know the proof of him, that, as a child serves a father, so he served with me in furtherance of the Good News.(Emphasis mine.)

Note also Paul confidently giving Timothy an almost identical task to the Corinthians:

1 Corinthians 4:17  . . . I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, even as I teach everywhere in every assembly.
