One Flesh

Proof that it is sex, and sex alone, that makes two people one in God’s eyes is found in the fact that God’s Word applies the truth of two becoming one flesh even to the most casual, uncommitted liaison: sex with a prostitute:

1 Corinthians 6:16 Or don’t you know that he who is joined to a prostitute is one body? For, “The two”, he says, “will become one flesh.”

This demonstrates how seriously God takes sex and why it is vital that it be restricted to intimacy between a man and woman who have a sacred vow to remain faithful to each other for as long as they both shall live. For more on this, see Premarital Sex Re-examined
